چکیده

The effect of soil properties like adsorption, desorption, movement and distribution of endosulfan (1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 7-hexachlorobicyclo (2, 2, 1)-2-heptene-5, 6-bisoxymethlene sulfite) in two tropical soils, sandy loam and sandy clay soil from Mysore, Karnataka state were studied respectively. The results indicated that soils with different physico-chemical properties have different effects on the adsorption, movement and distribution of pesticide, especially at higher concentration levels. Two composite soil samples were collected that having diversified physico-chemical properties were analysed. Adsorption coefficient values (K ads) as described by Freundlich’s model ranged from 0.04 to 0.31. Higher adsorption coefficient was measured in Halekesare soils as compared to Hinkal soils. Desorption as attributed to hysteresis was also measured. Desorption coefficient values (K des) were higher than adsorption (K ads) in each study. Movement of endosulfan was restricted to subsurface soil upto 0-15 cm depth only in both the soil types. However, vertical movement of endosulfan was faster in sandy loam soil than sandy clay soil. Results indicated that applied endosulfan retained in the upper layers of soil would be persistent or slow to degrade in the soils studied.

Adsorption and desorption characteristics of hydrophobic pesticide endosulfan in four Indian soils.

Adsorption and desorption characteristics of endosulfan in four Indian soils were studied extensively. The soils used were clayey soil (CL--lean clay with sand), red soil (GM--silty gravel with sand), sandy soil (SM--silty sand with gravel) and composted soil (PT--peat) as per ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) standards. Adsorption and desorption rates were calculated from kinet...

Sorption of alpha and beta hydrophobic endosulfan in a Vertisol from southeast region of Turkey.

Endosulfan has been applied to control numerous insects in a variety of food and non-food crops. Limited information is available on dynamics of this pesticide in the soil. The objective of this research was to determine the adsorption-desorption behavior of the alpha (alpha) and beta (beta) endosulfan in a Vertisol from the southeast region of Turkey, where cotton is the main crop in the large...

Adsorption and desorption of lead in Iranian acid and alkaline soils amended with sewage sludge-derived biochar

The effective management of sewage sludge materials in an environmentally and economically acceptable way is through the pyrolytic conversion of the sludge to biochar and its use for agricultural purposes. The aims of this work were: (1) to assess the effect of biochar prepared from sewage sludge at two different temperatures (350 ºC and 650 ºC) on the adsorption/desorptio...

Adsorption/desorption and mobility of carbofuran in soil samples from Kenya.

Carbofuran (2,3-dihydro-2-2-dimethyl-7-benzofuranyl-Nmethylcarbamate) is a very effective systemic and contact insecticide and nematicide used against a wide range of agricultural pests (Aquino and Pathak, 1976; Caro et al., 1973). Though less persistent than most organochlorine pesticides, carbofuran is more toxic to animals, it is very soluble in water and tends to degrade faster under floode...
